New talents, one day Parties and a new Festival to enjoy August

Every summer appear haters altered by the hot weather saying that in the month of August Barcelona is dead as far as concerts and festivals… Let’s prove they are wrong.

New talents, one day Parties and a new Festival to enjoy August

MYSTERY SKULLS

We start our recommendations for this first half in our favorite place at Poble Nou. Behind the alias of Mystery Skulls it is hidden the enigmatic singer and producer Luis Bubuc, multidisciplinary and self-taught musician from Dallas, who through trial and error tests and selfconfidence had the necessary courage to move to Los Angeles and get a place in the R&B scene. His debut album, “Forever” (2015) is a journey to the future with a look into the past. This music fan, with an adolescence marked by the Hip-Hop, learned to play the drums, guitar and keyboard while working in a music store on the outskirts of Dallas. Now, he has conquered one of the world’s major labels, such as Warner, who has seen in him a new talent in who to bet blindly. Do not miss his first visit to our country in Razzmatazz.

08/08. Razzmatazz, Almogàvers 122, Barcelona. 23:30h. 15€.

The Piknik Electronik rocks, and the proof is that every Sunday in the Jardins de Joan Brossa it is full of people. The project has finally consolidated after 3 years being “the delegation” of the main event in Montreal. Now it acts as a mini-festival: two scenarios, many square meters, picnic area, children’s area, stalls of all kinds, food kiosks and the best DJs on the planet circulating around the cabin every weekend. Undoubtedly one of the most anticipated events will be on Sunday August 9th. The Canadian Tiga returns to the city after presenting his first live in 20-year career in the last Sonar and make us dance with all its eternal dancefloor hits. In addition to his latest work “Bugatti” (2015), it will sound anthems like “You Gonna Want Me,” “Sunglasses At Night” or “Mind Dimension”, mixed, with the class that characterizes him, with other electro and house music. In addition, Clarian and Shaded will be in charge of the warm-up.

09/08. Piknik Electronik, Jardins de Joan Brossa S/N, Barcelona. 16:00h. 13€.

NO AGE

One of the groups that most caught our attention lately is No Age, an experimental punk duo integrated by Randy Randall (guitar) and Dean Allen Spunta (drums and vocals). The californians come to Barcelona after making last February two covers of the most influential bands of the movement: “Six Pack” of Blag Flag and “Sex Beat” Gun Club. These were included in a box format jewel called “Thirty Three and a Third Box Set”, with the participation of names such Eel Bros, Sean Bonnette and Rozwell Kid. Already become cult duo and sponsored by the prestigious label Sub Pop, their live performances are pure adrenaline, a declaration of principles enough showed in their latest work, “An Object” (2013). They guarantee amplified percussion, noise-pop influences, garage and much psychedelic rock.

11/08. Sidecar, Plaça Reial 9, Barcelona. 21:00h. 13€.

DGTL FESTIVAL

We end up with a bomb. Just over a month ago it surprised us the news that the DGTL Festival, an event born in Holland and known for any lover of electronics, will come to Barcelona in mid-August. It was also announced that it will last two days and will be held in a massive space like the Parc del Forum. Now we know the full lineup, consisting of fifty national and international artists and the truth is that we are so surprised. Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Âme (live), Maceo Plex, Agoria, Joseph Capriatti, Boddika, George Fitzgerald, Adam Beyer and Dixon are just some of the international names that will join the “local heroes” Paco Osuna, John Talabot, Undo, Pau Roca, Baldo or Begun. Those who were complaining that there was no big festival in August in Barcelona will be happy. The DGTL looks very, very well and looks like it is here to stay.

14-15/08. Parc del Fòrum, Barcelona. 59€.
