What to do in Barcelona in a rainy day

Qué hacer en Barcelona un día de lluvia

Everything starts ok. The day starts clear, the backpack is ready and the chosen route prepared. Then, just after breakfast at the hostel, it starts to rain. What to do on a rainy day in Barcelona? here are a few proposals to take advantage of the rain.

But, above all, a notice that you would appreciate.

Notice: how much it rains in Barcelona?

Keep in mind that even in the city with less rain per year, it rains. And that can happen while we are visiting it. In Barcelona it rains an average of 53 days per year (14%), so it’s weird but it can happen. It is best to have prepared an emergency plan with places you like to visit.

#1 CosmoCaixa (Science museum)

One of the favorite options that can be accessed without problems by bus, metro and drive! Admission is very cheap (4 €) and exhibitions, both permanent and temporary, are amazing. The bosc inundat (The Flooded Forest) that emulates an Amazonian forest is unique in Europe.

Other good choices are the Barcelona Photographic Archive, the Film Archive and the Centre for Contemporary Culture, very affordable options; there are very great museums at a somewhat higher price than you will love to visit: Egyptian Museum of Barcelona, MACBA and MNAC, are some examples.

#2 Aquarium

In the Port Vell, near the Drassanes metro station (L3) we found the Aquarium. A huge space where we can observe sharks, tropical fish and all kinds of marine animals without getting wet (even if it rains all over Barcelona!).

#3 The C Plan: Centro Comercial (Shopping center)

Another interesting option is Maremàgnum. Barcelona has a number of shopping centers, among them La Maquinista, Las Glorias, Las Arenas and L’Illa Diagonal (and Diagonal Mar!). All are modern spaces, with hundreds of shops, restaurants and services focused on leisure.

#4 Turistic Bus

Maybe you can take it to make a quiet city tour by bus. The tourist bus offers the possibility to learn more about the most emblematic things of Barcelona, and also about its history. If you do not want to get wet, it can be a great place to enjoy that rainy day in Barcelona.

#5 ¡Get wet!

At the end of the day, it’s just water, and we can always go to a bar in the Gothic neighborhood or to a brewery near the port if it rains.

Enough said, there are options to do on a rainy day in Barcelona
