Barcelona is a city full of squares, there are some very famous like the mythic Plaça Catalunya, Plaça Espanya or Plaça de Sant Jaume; other neighborhood squares in which to sit and have a coffee or vermouth while life flows around you; charming squares themselves as the Plaça Reial or Plaza de Gaudí. And of course, there are a lot of secret squares… unique corners!

Hidden in the Gothic Quarter, a few meters from the Cathedral of Barcelona, we find this wonderful treasure that survives on anonymity surrounded by Renaissance buildings and governed by the baroque church with shrapnel from a bomb during the civil war. Its fountain with octagonal base with white and green tiles increases its legend of quiet square. You’ll fall in love!

We do not leave the Gothic Quarter to discover the Traginers. Bohemian air, terraces that appear during the warm months and the Roman city wall as a backdrop only serve to stoke its legend of a meeting place for artists, neighbors and anyone who wants to enjoy its environment. Gràcia, old municipality now annexed to Barcelona, has many squares full of terraces, shops, children and tradition. A clear example of the essence of the neighborhood is found in the Plaça de la Vila. A large square that recalls the last independent district with the Clock Tower in the center and old town hall, now a district headquarters. A perfect place to enjoy vermouth and be part of the life of Gràcia.

Although Barceloneta is a neighborhood taken by tourism, there are corners that resist, as the Gaulish village of Asterix and Obelix, and maintain their essence. This is the case of the Plaza de la Barceloneta, which keeps its marine air and offers visitors a resting place under the watchful eye of the Parish of Sant Miquel del Port, baroque style. An excellent place to go after bathing and strolling along the beaches of Barcelona.

We could not finish our recommendation of secret places of Barcelona without remembering the Plaça de la Concordia. Situated in Les Corts, a few minutes from Hostel Pere Tarrés, it is a space full of life at almost any time. Inside the square there are modernist buildings, ancient and modern shops, Parish of Santa Maria del Remei in one of the most beautiful squares in Barcelona. Or that’s what its neighbors think!

We have left out some secret places in Barcelona that could have been part of our selection, but we do not say them not to break the spell. And now, do you keep the secret?
