Passeig de les Aigües is the name under which Barcelona named the former Carretera de les Aigües. Traditionally, the Carretera de les Aigües was used as a water pipe that was distributed by Barcelona.
The truth is that, in a few years has become one of the essential points for many citizens, who take advantage of the most accessible areas of the Serra de Collserola for sports, walk or enjoy a few hours of hiking accompanied by magnificent views of the city.
Carretera de les Aigües: 20 km of Nature
Its success is due to its accessibility, since we can reach the Carretera de les Aigües easy with the funicular of Vallvidrera (Railways station Vallvidrera Superior, at Alberes Street) and the road also allows drive up and park at the end of Avenida del Tibidabo or at the opposite end, in Plaça Mireia in Esplugues de Llobregat, by bicycle or on foot from multiple points along the way.
Its popularity makes the walk especially crowded on weekends, where many families decide to take a walk and enjoy the view through a single land road. Also, many cyclists and runners take advantage of the almost total flatness for their workouts, because it has great advantages difficult to find in the city and very little pollution when compared to the city center or nearby neighborhoods. So, no traffic lights, with good views and a flat path give you the possibility to run through at least 8 or 9 km track without worrying about anything else.
The well-known Green Round of Barcelona has been extended to the Llobregat (Mireia square) and in the coming years, there is an intention to do the same towards Besos, although the extension of the Carretera de les Aigües would make it lose at that point its horizontality, although it would be a perfect way to maximize the chances of many fans of hiking.
However, if anything shows the Carretera de les Aigües is that Collserola seems to gain fans every day!
