Patatas Bravas are Barcelona’s most popular Tapa, served in almost every bar of the city with a wide assortment of styles. From Todo Barcelona we recommend you our favourite places to taste and enjoy Barcelona’s traditional Tapa. Mister, a round of Bravas!
The best patatas bravas in Barcelona!
The Classical Ones
Fàbrica Moritz – Ronda de Sant Antoni 39
On their own merits, the bravas at Fàbrica Moritz have been placed as one of the best in town. They are always just made, at the optimal cooking point. There’s two styles at choice; Barcelona: with a light spicy tomato sauce, and Madrid: served with mayonnaise and spicy sauce.
Bar Tomás – Carrer Major de Sarrià, 49
It’s legendary spot for patatas bravas fans. El Tomás has both lovers and haters as the chips there are served in the traditional way: oily and with a house’s special sauce which you can enjoy with a big jar of beer or the excellent vermouth of the house. It’s said that these are the best bravas in Barcelona; perhaps it’s the proper time to find out.
Bar del Pla – Carrer de Montcada, 2
Bar Tomás has a strong competitor in Bar del Pla when it’s the time to decide who owns the title of the “best bravas in Barcelona”. Half-moon cut chips, well-cooked but not oily, with mayonnaise and a tasty spicy sauce.
Bar Mundial – Plaça de Sant Agustí Vell, 11
Bar Mundial has been in el Born quarter for almost a lifetime, offering fabulous tapas, including patatas bravas. They are served according to the traditional Catalan style: smooth spicy brava sauce and delicious allioli (garlic mayonnaise). Chips are cooked in a way that they seem slow cooked rather than fried.
Vermuteria el Masnou – Carrer del Masnou, 27
In Sants quarter you can find an author’s vermouth bar with house style bravas. Which is that particular style? Just cook the potatoes with a Galician touch (half boiled, half fried) accompanied with a smooth sauce suitable for any palate. To drink you can have one of the best vermouths in town and Alhambra beer masterly served.
Elsa y Fred – Carrer del Rec Comptal, 11
Entering El Born quarter from Arc de Triomf you’ll find one of those modern bars that invite you to take shelter from the cold or the heat. It’s Elsa & Fred, a gastro-bar with a good collection of positive rates where you can try their bravas tapa, which has a surprising black pepper flavour on the sauce.
Biercab – Carrer de Muntaner, 57
Biercab is one of those places conceived for those ones who love beer. But, let’s talk about its 30 draught beer taps another day and focus ourselves in their patatas bravas, presented like perfect cubes in a perfect squared shape. You have 30 reasons, plus one, to go there!
Bar Morrosko – Carrer d’Àngel Guimerà 5, Sabadell
Let’s hop on a train to get to one of the bars with one of the most peculiar bravas: El Morrosko. One of the few bars for young people that still survives in the centre of Sabadell and that offer an incredible sandwiches menu, along with an exquisite bravas with an aromatic sauce full of touch. It’s pretty sure that you will ask for a second round.
