Barcelona, a cosmopolitan city

Barcelona, una ciudad cosmopolita

According to the annual report of the Reputation Institute known as City RepTrack Report, Barcelona is the sixth city with the best reputation in the world, after Sydney, Melbourne, Stockholm, Vienna and Vancouver.

El documento tiene presentes cuestiones como la eficacia administrativa, economía local, turismo y entorno, entre otros, y demuestra por qué sus habitantes pueden enorgullecerse de hasta qué punto la capital catalana es atractiva para locales y visitantes.

And, certainly, a visit will show you why this position in the rankings, but we want to give you a good preview on the subject.

Barcelona, a cosmopolitan city like few

Cosmopolitan = multicultural spaces for its citizens who value it

Barcelona integrates and does not separe, and has maintained the character of its neighborhoods as suited to the standards of XXI century. Want to know how? Let’s show you with some examples that will surprise you!

Sagrada Familia de Barcelona reflejada en estanque

Catalan Modernism.

We start with a paradise of Heaven on Earth. This is the Catalan modernism, the Hospital de Sant Pau facing the Sagrada Familia, and this, pointing the way to the Diagonal and Casa Batllo, Comalat, Lleó i Morera and the Palau de la Música. Among names like Gaudi, which also bring us to the Park Güell, and Valeri i Pupurull, Domenech i Montaner and many other artists of the Catalan Reinaxença.

We can continue with a tour along Passeig de Gracia or Las Ramblas, where daily life and tourism merge into one of the most universal world tours; here fashion, luxury and leisure join in a avenue that leads to the sea. On the way, we can stop at La Boqueria, where meat, fish and vegetables are mixed with international flavors from all points of the globe.

On the sides, the story tells us through Roman walls, Gothic cathedrals and opportunities for exchange of ideas and cultures, like the Gothic Quarter and, above all, the Raval. From Shopping on Passeig de Gracia to alternative culture in Tallers street or the Poble Nou, party from Maremàgnum to Port Olimpic and new ways of working through more than 700 free WiFi  points in the city and the possibility of moving on two wheels through the Bicing.

Old shopping areas give way to new models, where 22@ area highlights as the place that concentrates the ICT sector. Meanwhile, the traditional neighborhoods lie immersed in their own unique character: the Ibiza square in Horta, the Carrer Gran de Sant Andreu ot the Parc de la Trinitat Vella… Definitely Barcelona is unique.
